That's why I have a couple of suggestions to dramatically improve this site.

(1) a tag system for the problems
- a list of tags is created by site admins / authors
- users who have solved a problem are able to attach a certain number of tags to it
- tags can provide info about topics / algorithms (e.g. "DP", "Combinatorics", "Long arithmetics"), overall impression (e.g. "Boring", "Tricky") and whatnot
Sorry, but the volume system alone just doesn't do it for me and as the problem pool grows larger it becomes harder to navigate.

(2) a Russian version
This one is pretty self-explanatory.

(1) A problem can be solved with different methods. Should these tags help the user that did not solve a problem?

(2) A Russian version? Why not a French version, an Italian version and so on? Poor Родион.

Hi, thanks for your suggestions, even if probably I'm not ready to implement them at once! :)

  1. Yes "volumes" are becoming more and more obsolete. They work somewhat similar to tags, but they are too inflexible and their names are not always informative. I'll try to think over possible implementation of tags system and perhaps soon we may have them in some form!

  2. I'm afraid I'm not ready to start kicking against translation. You see, currently the activity on creating tasks, slowly improving site's functionality and design and performing some SEO devours significant time :)

And Nicolas is correct, if I want to make the site more popular, I probably should provide translations to Spanish, French and Mandarin first. And to be honest to make the whole site multi-lingual will require much refactoring. It would be easier to create translations for problem statements only maintained by community (at Project Euler they are even hosted at other site) but it requires at first to build strong enough community. Nevertheless probably it is the only viable solution, so at some point I'll try to implement some functionality for this... :)

to nicolas_patrois:

(1) Sure, they can be a bit spoiler-ish, so there must be an option to show / hide the tags.
(2) Why not? Personally I'd be very happy to see a French and an Italian version as well (I'm actually currently learning both of them) -- as long as the translation is done by a native speaker.
// Btw, could you recommend any cool French blogs about programming / math?

to Admin:

The tone of my initial message was meant to be a little ironic. I am really grateful for this site and all the work you have put in it. I just wanted to share some ideas which may or may not be helpful.

Please do not hesitate to speak out your opinion and suggestions. After I started this site I understand how important such feedback is! :-)

> Are you doing all this by yourself or is there a team?

No, currently there are neither team nor any kind of patronizing organization so the site is simply a kind of personal hobby. :)

However I am very lucky because some users provide valuable feedback and suggest ideas for problems - this is what really helps to drive the stuff forth! Without all this help despair would be unavoidable :D

BTW may I ask - where from you came to this site? From habrahabr or codeforces?
