Back to Certificate Requests forum

I'm finally applying for a certificate here. My name is Jan Philipp Bensmann, and I have solved more than 125 problems.

When I discovered the CodeAbbey, I had some knowledge of C and Java and had just started to learn Python. (For some reason, my searches had only led me to the CodingBat before). Despite some very frustratring hours, I soon became addited to solving problems here ;-) It is a great place to learn programming, so many thanks for creating this site and keeping it free.

My knowledge of Python was very limimted in the beginning. So many of my earlier programs were clumsy; that's why I hesitated to request a certificate. I have cleaned up some of the programs now. So, I dare to apply for a certificate.

I'd also like to change my account type to facebook to change my user name.

And third, I'm willing to translate some problem statements into German.

Sorry, I've just found the example text. So, for the record:

I solved 125 problems myself without cheating. Please review my solutions and grant me the certificate!

Hello Jan Philipp! Thanks a lot for your request and your participation :)

No worry about example text - it is hard to believe any cheating can help to reach the #4 position in our rank list :)

Your certificate will be ready in a few minutes! I'll be back soon...

UPD now it is in your profile - and here is a direct link - please check that everything is correct!

It seems you've made over 200 problems in about exactly two months... Awesome! And as for your solutions - for me they seem quite neatly styled so I think people browsing other's codes to learn from them would be quite thankful to you! Good addition/alternative to solutions by MoffSerge which are usually in wonderful hardcore-object-oriented style :)

If it is not a secret, do you work in IT or you have some unrelated occupation?

Thank you (and for all the work you are doing to maintain this site as well)!

I went back to school after some unsuccessful years in journalism. So, I'm an older than normal computer science undergraduate right now. I have always been interested in math and science, however.

During the long summer break here in Germany (which is over now) I had quite a bt of time to work on CodeAbbey problems. (I guess the influx of German users in September was due to this break) This site is so good that I was obsessed with solving puzzles here sometimes, so I probably ended up higher in the ranking than I deserve ;-)
